Job summary

Teledyne Judson Technologies seeks a Systems Engineer to design and characterize packages and dewar cooled arrays for infrared detectors. The role requires strong SolidWorks/ANSYS skills, plus capable development of models, drawings, and simulations.

Independent work with cross-functional teams is expected, including significant vacuum processing experience. Ideal candidates will have hands-on experience with photodetectors/cameras, laser welding, and metrology, and can lead projects from

Qualifications

MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
>15 years of directly related experience in detector packaging/vacuum Dewar design.
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical documents and regulations.
Ability to organize data and write reports and procedures.
Significant experience in high vacuum processing (loading/unloading, getter activation, degas, pinch-off, leak check).

Responsibilities

Evaluates customer requirements and designs detector focal plane packaging and cooling options.
Generates technical content (models, drawings, calculations, simulations) for reviews.
Prepares cost models and project schedules.
Leads designers to detail parts and assist with system development.
Performs FEA, heat transfer, and vibration analyses.
Supports material selection (TECs, cryo-coolers, getters).
Develops test strategies, fixtures, and tooling.
Documents results in test reports.
