Job summary

Northrop Grumman’s Space Systems Sector in Redondo Beach, CA seeks a Systems Engineer – Level 5 to lead the design, integration, and test of testbeds and space subsystem hardware. You will oversee hardware development, V&V, and technical reviews while coordinating with internal and external stakeholders.

The role requires a high level of technical leadership, strong problem-solving, and the ability to drive complex tests and configurations in a collaborative environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in STEM with 12+ years of engineering experience or Master’s with 10+ years or PhD with 8+ years.
• Active U.S. Government Secret clearance at time of application and start date.
• Experience with common spacecraft subsystem hardware and/or models and test support equipment (ACS, AFM, EGSE, EPS, FSW, C&DH, TCS, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Sound foundation in mechanical and/or electrical engineering.
• Design and maintenance of the testbed facility; manage setup/configuration, procure parts, fabrication, and support V&V testing.
• Experience in hardware integration and verification/validation testing for testbeds or AI&T.
• Own testbed hardware design; assess ECRs and lead solution implementation.
• Technical leadership including baseline management and major reviews.
• Demonstrate decisiveness and sound technical judgments with limited information.
• Motivate and guide teams without formal ownership; engage with stakeholders.
• Perform system integration and V&V; troubleshoot electrical hardware; scripting in DSATS and Python.
• Lead configuration of the Testbed Facility; oversee procurement and manufacturing of parts.
