Job summary

Kapsch is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to own the technical aspects of large-scale ITS projects, spanning roadside hardware, embedded devices, and back-office software. You will translate client needs into buildable system requirements, manage the end-to-end lifecycle, and lead multi-disciplinary teams to deliver robust solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field.
• 10+ years delivering complex, hardware-software integrated systems.
• Proven ability to own client relationships on multi-year programs.
• 5+ years in systems engineering with architectures, interfaces, databases, or frameworks.
• Experience leading hardware/software integration through full lifecycle.
• Ability to develop and deliver technical presentations to clients.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discussions with the client and translate needs into verifiable requirements.
• Own end-to-end requirements baseline and maintain traceability across subsystems.
• Drive hardware/software architecture decisions and path forward when blocked.
• Coordinate across hardware, software, and electrical engineering teams.
• Ensure seamless integration, testing, and handoff to operations.
• Guide scope management and risk mitigation in collaboration with the client.
