Job summary

Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington is seeking a Sr. Systems Engineer to own how technology works across 26 locations, including infrastructure, store technology, and service delivery. You will shape standards, drive modernization, and ensure reliability across the enterprise.

You will lead domain architecture, implement modern infrastructure, and mentor engineers while coordinating with enterprise architecture and change management, operating as a senior IC with broad scope.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of hands-on systems engineering, infrastructure engineering, or systems administration with domain ownership.
• Deep Windows Server and directory services expertise including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and certificates.
• Strong virtualization experience (VMware, Proxmox, Hyper-V) including design and migration.
• Strong networking: VLANs, routing, firewalls, VPN, multi-site connectivity.
• Identity and access architecture experience: SSO, MFA, conditional access, access lifecycle.
• Automation and scripting proficiency (PowerShell, Bash, Python, or config mgmt tooling).
• Ability to set and enforce technical standards across teams.
• Experience owning infrastructure across multiple physical sites.
• Security posture ownership: patching, hardening, vulnerability response.
• Clear written communication; write standards and explain constraints to non-tech audiences.

Responsibilities

• Domain ownership: architect infrastructure domain across servers, identity, network, and store technology.
• Standards and engineering practice: set build/config/operational standards; review designs.
• Infrastructure modernization: lead virtualization migration, identity rollout, endpoint modernization, store tech deployment.
• Security and resilience: own patching, access model, hardening, backups, DR testing.
• Vendor and asset management: manage platforms/hardware vendors; lifecycle planning.
• Multiplication: raise team capability through reviews, mentoring, and documentation.
