Base pay range

Riptide Technology offers a great opportunity for a Senior Systems Engineer - Database Engineer SQL Server with an active TS/SCI clearance. The position is based in Springfield, VA, and requires onsite work.

This role requires U.S. Citizenship and an active DoD TS/SCI clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a CI Polygraph.

The Senior Systems Engineer—Database will be responsible for supporting enterprise IT systems, providing expertise in modern and Next Generation database solutions across various vendors and technologies, and mentoring junior staff.

Responsibilities

1. Providing guidance and support for distributed database administration to ensure high uptime and stability.
2. Implementing and managing high availability, resiliency, disaster recovery, and continuity solutions.
3. Managing solutions in classified environments adhering to U.S. Government standards.
4. Performing database performance tuning and optimization.
5. Monitoring and analyzing database performance.
6. Supporting system engineering within the SDLC.
7. Decomposing stakeholder requirements into design solutions.
8. Troubleshooting and resolving database issues while maintaining security posture.

Qualifications

1. Active U.S. citizenship and TS/SCI clearance, with a CI Poly preferred.
2. Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
3. 7+ years of experience with enterprise database solutions such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or MongoDB.
4. Experience with database security, performance tuning, and high availability solutions.
5. Knowledge of scripting languages like T-SQL, Python, PowerShell.
6. Experience supporting classified environments and understanding of government security standards.

Desired Qualifications

1. Deep understanding of database internals and high-availability solutions.
2. Experience with SQL Server architectures and features, including Always-on Availability Groups.
3. Familiarity with automation tools and cloud infrastructure concepts.
4. Experience with backup solutions and database as a service (DBaaS).
5. Knowledge of enterprise networking and cloud technologies.
