Job Description:

HPE is seeking a passionate and skilled Linux Systems Administrator to provide system management, daily monitoring, and optimization. In this role, you will provide technical leadership and execution, supporting HPE’s mission-critical customers by providing pre-installation configuration, on-site integration, administration, and customer enablement of HPE’s computing solutions.

Requirements:

  • TS/SCI with Poly clearance REQUIRED
  • US citizenship is required
  • Location: Onsite Full-Time, Annapolis Junction, Maryland
  • This role requires in-person attendance at non-HPE worksites that may impose COVID-19 vaccination and/or testing requirements. Applicants must be prepared to comply with these requirements by their start date.

In this role, you will:

  • Work as an active member of the HPE account team, interacting with the Service Delivery Manager, Sales, the customer, and site staff
  • Answer customer inquiries concerning system software versions, product lifecycles, new releases, and third-party applications
  • Maintain Linux system availability, create and document site procedures, system diagrams, and configuration/support documents
  • Maintain system software and firmware revisions, including patches, updates, and OS upgrades
  • Resolve hardware, software, and third-party software issues, providing detailed analysis and solutions
  • Gather data, perform analysis, and escalate problems as necessary to ensure timely resolution
  • Implement solutions, repairs, and workarounds, documenting steps taken
  • Share troubleshooting techniques, new ideas, and utilities to develop organizational knowledge
  • Manage software issues for systems and user applications, submitting and tracking bugs as required

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Linux OS (RHEL or SLES), workload management, parallel file systems, networking, security
  • Ability to investigate and resolve complex problems
  • Proficiency with programming/scripting languages (e.g., Perl, Python, C) preferred
  • Maintain system software using debugging tools, perform software builds, upgrades, and patches
  • Organizational and analytical skills to isolate hardware/software problems and drive solutions
  • Ability to document processes clearly, with a focus on mentoring and knowledge sharing

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field, or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years’ HPC-related experience, including large-scale HPC and parallel file system administration/support
  • Clearance required: TS SCI with Poly
