Job summary

GovCIO invites applications for a Subject Matter Expert (SME) Systems Engineer to support a national-level IT enterprise. The role demands hands-on systems, network, and cybersecurity engineering across multiple classification domains within the National Capital Region and will be fully onsite at a government site in the United States.

You will lead architecture, design secure infrastructures, and drive a migration to post-quantum cryptography while coordinating with senior leadership.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI clearance required.
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related field; 15+ years of progressive IT engineering experience.
• Depth in at least three areas: systems, network, cybersecurity engineering, and enterprise architecture.
• Recent hands-on experience in CSfC solution design or Trusted Integrator work, post-quantum crypto migration, AI/ML, and enterprise data analytics.
• DoD 8140 Advanced proficiency level for DCWF roles; compliance with DoD 8570.
• CISSP with ISSAP/ISSEP or equivalent advanced qualification.

Responsibilities

• Provide SME-level leadership on major systems, network, and cybersecurity efforts with clear objectives and baselines.
• Architect secure, resilient IT systems across multiple classification domains including CSfC integrations.
• Lead enterprise migration to post-quantum cryptography per NSA CNSA timelines.
• Identify and integrate AI and data analytics to improve network operations and cyber defense.
• Retire legacy tech debt and promote modern engineering practices to counter cyber threats.
• Act as senior interface to GOVCIO and client teams; present options, risks, and recommendations.
• Mentor engineers and review designs, accreditation artifacts, and deliverables for quality.
