Job summary

Peraton in McLean, VA is seeking a senior systems engineering leader with active TS/SCI clearance and polygraph to oversee the system development lifecycle for a critical software tool project. Qualifications

• TS/SCI with polygraph is required.
• 15+ years experience with BS/BA; 4 additional years may substitute for degree.
• Familiarity with software development methodologies (Agile or waterfall).
• Experience overseeing commercial development contractors.
• Strong understanding of system engineering principles and practices.

Responsibilities

• Assist project teams with system requirements definition and translate requirements into contractual tasks for the commercial development contractor.
• Oversee the contractor’s development of the software tool and ensure good system engineering practices are followed.
• Monitor and report contractor progress, identify risks, and ensure contractual compliance.
• Provide guidance for process improvements, tooling, and methodologies to enhance quality and speed of delivery.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to address technical or programmatic issues impacting software development.
• Review contractor processes (requirements management, design, testing, validation) for compliance.
• Evaluate deliverables (software builds, docs, test results) for contractual conformity.
• Identify technical or programmatic risks and work with the contractor on mitigation plans.
• Provide technical oversight to ensure best system engineering practices are followed.
• Analyze processes and propose improvements; implement and monitor effectiveness in collaboration with the contractor.
