Applied Research Associates, Inc. in Albuquerque, NM seeks a Senior Systems Engineer to serve as a senior technical resource for server infrastructure, virtualization, storage, backup and recovery, identity services, automation, and infrastructure security.

You will lead complex infrastructure initiatives, design and maintain enterprise Windows and Linux servers across physical, virtual, and cloud environments, and mentor other team members while ensuring security compliance and reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, MIS or related field with ~8 years of experience.
Strong experience administering enterprise Windows Server environments.
Experience administering Linux server environments (Ubuntu preferred).
Expertise with virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi and/or Nutanix AHV).
Knowledge of Active Directory, DNS/DHCP, authentication and PKI services.
Experience with automation using PowerShell, Ansible, Python, or similar.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, administer, and maintain enterprise Windows and Linux server infrastructure.
Engineer and support virtualization platforms including VMware vSphere and Nutanix.
Administer and secure identity services and MFA/2FA integrations.
Develop automation for provisioning, patching, and config management.
Lead complex infrastructure initiatives and provide technical mentorship.
Perform troubleshooting and root cause analysis for infrastructure issues.
