Job summary

Spear Bio is seeking an Associate Engineer / Senior Associate Engineer, Systems Design & Integration in Woburn, MA to develop data analysis software and instrument control tools for the SPEAR platform. The role blends software development, data engineering, and hands-on assay execution to support next-generation ultrasensitive immunoassays.

You will work with cross-functional teams to integrate hardware and software, ensure compliance with 21 CFR Part 11 and ISO 13485, and accelerate engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science or related field.
• 1–4 years of experience with lab systems integration, software for scientific instruments, or diagnostics platform development.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis, scripting, and application development; knowledge of C#, JavaScript, SQL is a plus.
• Experience with data analysis pipelines, LIMS systems, or scientific software in regulated environments.
• Familiarity with 21 CFR Part 11, ISO 13485, and FDA QSR design controls; hands-on assay experience desirable.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain data analysis software and tools for the SPEAR platform, including calibration curves and results reporting.
• Contribute to LIMS infrastructure ensuring data integrity, traceability, and regulatory compliance.
• Build dashboards, visualization tools, and automated reporting for assay performance metrics.
• Support instrument control software development and integration with firmware and application layers.
• Leverage AI-assisted development tools to accelerate software development and test automation.
