Job summary

Spear Bio Inc. is seeking a Bioinstrumentation Support Engineer to be the primary field-facing technical resource for the SPEAR S.W.I.F.T. instrument platform based in Woburn, MA.

The role blends engineering with customer-facing execution and requires deep technical knowledge across hardware, software, and assay workflows. You will spend ~70% in the field performing installations, maintenance, service calls, and on-site troubleshooting, with ~30% in-house for cross-training, engineering

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Bioengineering, or related technical field.
• Associate’s degree with 5+ years of relevant field service or instrumentation experience will also be considered.
• 3+ years of field service, field applications support, or instrumentation engineering experience in life sciences.

Responsibilities

• Lead on-site instrument installations and IQ/OQ protocols at customer labs.
• Perform preventive maintenance visits and on-site troubleshooting across mechanical, electrical, thermal, optical, fluidic, and software subsystems.
• Serve as technical contact for assigned customer accounts and document field activities in Jira and support tools.
• Diagnose instrument issues via phone/video and travel for on-site resolution when needed.
• Coordinate with field service and engineering teams on related support activities.
• Assist with developing service documentation and SOPs for field teams.
