Job summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems seeks a Principal Systems Engineer for the Armament Systems site in Mesa, AZ. This individual contributor role coordinates system planning, verification and risk management for medium-caliber gun programs.

Responsibilities include technical oversight, cost and schedule control, and collaboration with design, manufacturing and quality teams to deliver fielded systems and support aftermarket services.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering or STEM field with relevant experience.
• M.S. degree with related experience acceptable; project management skills required.
• Experience in defense or aerospace product development.
• Knowledge of SOWs, risk management and scheduling.

Responsibilities

• Meet technical performance, cost and schedule targets for projects.
• Provide technical direction to engineers and technicians.
• Plan and execute gun system development and testing programs.
• Incorporate contractual, environmental, and producibility factors.
• Lead failure investigations and corrective actions.
• Coordinate with design, manufacturing and quality teams.
• Support fielded systems and aftermarket services.
• Present work at reviews and prepare technical proposals.
• Interface with customers and suppliers; support cost tracking.
