Elbit Systems of America, LLC is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer in Roanoke, VA to lead requirements development, system architecture, and verification activities for warfighter electro-optical platforms. You will guide a cross-functional sensor team and interface with customers and government partners.

The role emphasizes MBSE practices, collaboration with electrical, mechanical, optical, and software teams, and transition support to manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's of Science Degree in the Engineering field.
• Preferred - Masters.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance.
• Minimum of 5+ years of systems engineering experience.
• Experience in aerospace/defense delivering solutions to standards.
• Experience with customer discovery/stakeholder needs and requirements.
• Experience with requirements management, flows down, verification & validation during the product life cycle.
• Excellent communication skills with multi-disciplinary engineering team and government customers.
• Experience coordinating with multi-disciplinary design teams (electrical, mechanical, optical, image science, software, firmware, or test).
• Proficient in written and verbal communications.

Responsibilities

• Guide multidisciplinary sensor development team.
• Guide development of project lifecycle plan and activities, including major milestones, reviews, and deliverables.
• Develop, design, allocate, and manage user and system-level requirements.
• Guide development of system architecture.
• Evaluate design tradeoffs and guide technical discussions with a multi-disciplinary engineering team.
• Define and assess interfaces with functional guides and outside organizations.
• Guide technical reviews throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide oversight of verification and validation activities, including requirements traceability and compliance.
• Aid transition of product into manufacturing alongside operations and manufacturing engineering.

Job Summary:

The Senior Systems Engineer performs at an advanced level: requirements analysis and management, technical planning, systems level design, systems integration, verification and validation, cost and risk management, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for products in the warfighter systems portfolio. Analyses are performed during all phases of the product development process including concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, and maintenance. The Senior Systems Engineer will provide guidance to the team in the development of warfighter systems electro optical devices.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

• Guide multidisciplinary sensor development team
• Guide development of project lifecycle plan and activities, including major milestones, reviews, and deliverables
• Develop, design, allocate, and manage user and system-level requirements
• Guide development of system architecture
• Evaluate design tradeoffs andguide technical discussions with a multi-disciplinary engineering team

• Individual engineers and subsystem-level subject matter experts within and outside of the project team

Education:

• Bachelor's of Science Degree in the Engineering field
• Preferred - Masters

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

• Ability to obtain and maintain a secret clearance
• Minimum of 5+ years of systems engineering experience
• Experience working within the aerospace or defense industry, and delivering solutions to the appropriate standards
• Experience with customer discovery/stakeholder needs and requirements
• Experience with requirements management, flows down, verification & validation during the product life cycle
• Excellent communication skills with multi-disciplinary engineering team and government customers
• Experience with technical partnership with multi-disciplinary design teams (such as electrical, mechanical, optical, image science, software, firmware, or test engineers)
• Proficient in written (reports, proposals, white papers) and verbal skills (technical presentations)

Preferred Attributes:

• Technical skills, including Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) with Cameo
• Experience with VIS-NIR cameras
• Certified to INCOSE CSEP or ESEP
• Experience with Electro-Optical imaging systems (cameras), system design, integration, and test
• Experience delivering compliant Electro-Optical imaging systems to customer requirements
