Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Systems Engineering professional to translate product requirements into robust embedded control solutions for HVAC products.

You will lead the controls sub-system in new product development, collaborate with software teams, conduct reliability analyses, develop tests, and coordinate engineering documents to support product releases.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of embedded software or control system design experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC, automotive, aerospace, or related product development.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver the controls sub-system for new product development from requirements to verification.
  • Collaborate with software teams to ensure high-quality embedded systems meet timelines.
  • Provide reliability analysis of components and systems.
  • Develop and coordinate engineering documents and releases.
  • Guide developers, QA engineers, and lab technicians in daily activities.
  • Prepare presentations for Qualification Review Boards with quality tools.
  • Document process improvements as part of standard engineering work.
  • Identify cost-effective components for new projects.

About this role

The Systems Engineering professional works independently, converts product requirements into control system solutions, leads trade studies, and implements common work practices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accountable for the complete delivery of the controls sub‑system of new product development programs, primarily through requirements elicitation and verification planning.
  • Work closely with software developers to ensure high quality embedded control systems are delivered on time and as the customer’s request.
  • Provide expertise in control system design and analysis in the development of next generation high efficiency and environmentally friendly commercial HVAC products.
  • Develop and execute testing and qualification for software modules and control systems.
  • Review test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
  • Provide reliability analysis of components and systems.
  • Develop and coordinate engineering documents and release.
  • Provide daily directions to developers, QA engineers, & lab technicians.
  • Prepare presentations for Qualification Review Boards including demonstrating the use of Quality System deployment tools.
  • Collaborate with team members from Marketing, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Document process improvements as part of standard engineering work.
  • Identification of reliable and cost‑effective purchased components required for new product development projects.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 3+ years of experience working with embedded software and/or embedded control system design.
  • 3+ years of experience working with specification, design, development, and manufacture of products in HVAC, automotive, aerospace, or white product.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced Degree in Systems, Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
  • Hands‑on experience working in an Engineering design environment.
  • Demonstrated system design thinking skills and creative new product design skills.
  • Project management and interpersonal skills and the ability to work within an engineering design team.
  • Working knowledge of refrigeration design, heat transfer, fan systems, structural analysis & electronic control systems.
  • Demonstrated experience in continual process improvement.
  • Experience with model‑based design techniques.
  • Experience integrating and verifying & validating performance of complex systems.
  • Knowledge of model development software tools like Simulink is a strong differentiator.
  • Proficiency in Matlab / Simulink, and C/C++.
  • Ability to professionally engage with cross‑functional and cross‑regional teams to understand and translate product requirements into control system requirements.
  • Ability to communicate complex technical concepts across technical and non‑technical organizations.
  • Ambitious self‑starter who thrives in a fast‑paced design environment.
  • Ability for developing continuous improvement projects to influence and drive change.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.
Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 – $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short‑term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
