Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Senior System Design Engineer to define, design, and lead system design and technical specifications for automated driving technologies and AV. You will work at the intersection of system, architecture, hardware and software, contributing to GM's next generation of vehicles.

The role requires extensive experience in automotive systems, strong leadership, and collaboration across disciplines.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in automotive or similar electronic modules and/or systems engineering.
• Proficiency in writing and understanding software and hardware requirements and interfaces.
• Strong verbal and written communication in a fast-paced environment.
• Experience with requirement management tools (DOORS, DNG, JAMA).
• Ability to lead cross-functional discussions and collaborate with peers and downstream customers.

Responsibilities

• Leads and generates technical solutions including requirements specification and validation for programs.
• Designs system interfaces and requirements with detailed design and validation using Protobufs and Feature Files.
• Lead development of software system design content and address software anomalies.
• Performs complex design analysis and balances system requirements.
• Produces and maintains technical documentation and specifications using tools like DNG, Rhapsody, Jira, Jama, GitHub, Confluence and Visual Studio.
• Lead FMEA and allocate failure modes to execution teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with product execution.
