Job summary

The Dixon Group, a Chestertown, Maryland-based manufacturer, seeks a Senior Systems Administrator to oversee enterprise infrastructure and cloud services, including VMware, Microsoft 365, and Azure. You will manage storage, networking, cybersecurity, and DR solutions, ensuring secure, reliable systems for business operations.

Ideal candidates have extensive VMware experience, strong Windows server and active directory skills, and a proactive, customer-focused approach.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
7-10 years of experience administering VMware environments, including vSphere, vCenter, and ESXi
3-5 years of experience with storage platforms, networking concepts, VPNs, firewalls, and cybersecurity principles.
Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Server operating systems and networking protocols
Strong knowledge of backup and recovery solutions, preferable Veeam, and disaster recovery best practices.
Experience troubleshooting infrastructure, server, and application issues in a production environment.
Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively to address incidents, problems, provide access management, and contribute to infrastructure enhancement projects.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to diagnose and resolve complex technical issues.
Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively engage both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Customer-focused mindset with a commitment to delivering exceptional service and support.

Responsibilities

Maintain and support the organization's enterprise infrastructure.
Administer and support virtual server environments using VMware technologies.
Manage Microsoft server technologies and core services such as Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, Group Policy, and Microsoft 365.
Manage enterprise backup, recovery, and disaster recovery solutions, including Veeam and cloud-based retention systems.
Support Azure cloud services and assist with cloud resource optimization.
Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and escalate complex problems as Tier III.
Perform system maintenance including patching, backups, and recovery testing.
Manage storage, virtualization, Citrix environments, and related infrastructure technologies.
Support network infrastructure including switches, VLANs, VPNs, and firewalls.
Help maintain cybersecurity controls through hardening, patch management, and compliance initiatives.
