Job description

IMTAS (Innovative Management Technology Approaches) is an information technology services company providing mission-focused support to U.S. Federal agencies. IMTAS delivers advanced IT services, cybersecurity, and infrastructure management with a proven track record supporting law enforcement, national security, and defense missions. Headquartered in the Reston, VA, IMTAS offers competitive compensation, an excellent benefits package, and a professional environment where innovation and customer success are paramount.

IMTAS is seeking a skilled and experienced Systems Administrator to provide support for the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) Division. As part of the CJIS Division, you will be instrumental in equipping law enforcement, national security, and intelligence community partners with the critical criminal justice information necessary to protect the United States while ensuring the preservation of civil liberties.

Key duties include installing, configuring, and maintaining network, monitoring, and logging tools; performing system upgrades and patches; and quickly diagnosing and resolving advanced technical issues. You will collaborate closely with key stakeholders to evaluate system requirements, plan for growth, and maintain compliance with security policies and industry standards.

Additional responsibilities involve enforcing strict security controls, managing user access, and leading the response to application and infrastructure incidents. You will also maintain thorough documentation of systems and processes using Jira, Confluence, and other enterprise tools.

The successful candidate will bring deep expertise with Windows, Linux, and Unix operating systems, familiarity with enterprise networking protocols, and hands-on experience with cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure. Strong scripting abilities (Python, Bash) are also essential. A Top Secret clearance is required; prior experience supporting FBI or federal law enforcement IT programs is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and mentorship to junior administrators, promoting best practices in application management and technical support.
  • Assess and advise on the selection of network hardware and software solutions to meet evolving operational needs.
  • Perform installation, upgrades, patching, and configuration of complex network, monitoring, and logging systems across the enterprise.
  • Continuously monitor application and infrastructure performance, identify performance bottlenecks, and apply tuning strategies to optimize user experience.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve advanced application issues, including integration challenges, data inconsistencies, and security vulnerabilities.
  • Develop, implement, and enforce robust application security policies, manage user permissions, and proactively address potential security risks.
  • Anticipate future application and infrastructure growth needs and recommend scalable solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with business and technical stakeholders to gather requirements and ensure systems meet mission and operational objectives.
  • Maintain compliance with all applicable industry regulations, standards, and security protocols.
  • Lead incident response efforts for application outages and critical system events, ensuring minimal disruption to operations.
  • Maintain and update detailed system and network documentation, including configurations, changes, and procedures, utilizing Jira, Confluence, and other documentation tools.
