Position Summary:

As part of the Production Engineering team, the Senior Systems Administrator administers and maintains customer-facing SaaS infrastructure, including services in public cloud and data center environments. You will support, troubleshoot, and manage our application platforms, working closely with developers, DBAs, and other teams to ensure system stability, security, and scalability. Responsibilities include platform migrations, upgrades, process improvements, and technology introductions.

You have experience administering Windows Server in data centers or cloud environments, managing SaaS applications, and familiarity with compute and infrastructure services such as AWS, Azure, IIS, SFTP, SMTP, VMware, load balancers, firewalls, and database servers. An automation mindset is essential, with a focus on building automated processes to replace manual work, ensuring predictable outcomes. You primarily work with Windows Server, with some Linux experience. You will help ensure smooth operations, contribute to improvements, and assist in platform architecture. Strong communication, teamwork, and interpersonal skills are required.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Ensure critical systems are available 24x7x365
  2. Deploy, administer, and troubleshoot SaaS applications, primarily on Windows servers
  3. Deploy new services and infrastructure to AWS, Azure, and data centers
  4. Automate manual processes
  5. Collaborate with DBA team to ensure database server stability and security
  6. Monitor application and infrastructure performance; recommend and implement additional resources as needed
  7. Extend Infrastructure as Code for resource management
  8. Perform regular operational tasks such as patching, backups, certificate renewals, and security reviews
  9. Create secure deployment and configuration guides for new technologies
  10. Ensure compliance with internal information security controls
  11. Assist with internal audits and security-related tasks
  12. Implement analytics for business process improvements and insights

COMPETENCIES AND TECHNICAL SKILLS:

  1. 5+ years of experience with Windows workloads and SaaS applications
  2. Deep knowledge of Windows Server OS, including IIS workloads
  3. Experience automating manual processes
  4. Experience with observability tools like ELK, New Relic, or Datadog
  5. Understanding of application scalability, performance, and reliability
  6. Familiarity with VMware or similar virtualization technologies
  7. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking and Internet-facing services
  8. Experience administering MS SQL Server, PostgreSQL, or other databases
  9. Experience with cloud platforms like AWS or Azure
  10. Practical Linux experience
  11. Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting server issues
  12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  13. Ability to work independently and in teams
  14. Strong time management and documentation skills
  15. Containerized applications experience is a plus
  16. Note: May require evening/weekend work for maintenance and monitoring tasks.

EDUCATION and PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATIONS:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent
  2. Azure, AWS, or VMware certifications are desirable but not mandatory
