Job summary

NVIDIA is seeking a Senior System Software Engineer in Santa Clara, CA to develop and optimize system software for next-generation O-RAN infrastructure. You’ll work on SoCs for RUs/DUs, and collaborate across hardware, platform, and cellular-software teams from pre-silicon to deployment.

Requirements include a BS/MS in CS/CE/EE and 5+ years in system software, with strong C/C++ and Python skills, Linux kernel experience, and knowledge of power management and performance measurement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of relevant experience in system software, embedded software, firmware, computer architecture, cellular infrastructure, or performance engineering.
• Strong programming skills in C or C++, and Python or scripting language.
• Strong understanding of computer architecture and hardware-software interaction, including multicore systems and memory hierarchies.
• Experience with Linux kernel development, device drivers, concurrency, and real-time/latency-sensitive programming.
• Hands-on experience in performance measurement, workload characterization, and system optimization.
• Knowledge of SoC power-management concepts and 5G/6G-related interfaces.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and optimize system software and firmware for SoCs used in O-RAN and cellular infrastructure.
• Develop power-management policies and performance optimizations across CPU, GPU, accelerators, memory, interconnect, I/O, and networking subsystems.
• Analyze RU and DU workloads to identify bottlenecks in compute, memory bandwidth, latency, synchronization, and data movement.
• Create and tune power-management features such as DVFS, clock gating, and idle-state management.
• Create performance and power models, measurement tools, benchmarks, and automated test infrastructure.
• Use simulation, emulation, and production silicon to validate architectural decisions and identify issues.
• Evaluate system behavior against O-RAN and cellular-interface requirements including timing and reliability.
• Influence future SoC and platform architectures based on workload analysis.
