Job summary

United Launch Alliance in Centennial, Colorado, seeks a Safety/Systems Engineer to review launch vehicle and space system designs to establish safety requirements and comprehensive assessments. You will lead projects, work independently, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders, with occasional travel and a DoD clearance path.

Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor's degree in an engineering discipline.
  • 4+ years of related work experience (Master's degree substitutes for 2 years).
  • Proven ability to lead projects to completion.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan and maintain schedule adherence for assigned work scope.
  • Demonstrated teamwork/interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated group presentation skills.
  • Limited domestic travel may be required up to 25%.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews launch vehicle and space vehicle system specifications and designs, their associated support equipment and facilities, and functional specifications and operations, to establish safety requirements and safety assessments for assigned systems.
  • Performs independent assessments and provides recommendations to system design and operational procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
  • Prepares safety documents as required to support ULA, Air Force, Range Safety, FAA, NASA, NRO, and Commercial customers.
  • Performs audits of operational areas and reports effectiveness of system safety program.
  • Participates in accident investigations involving damage to products or related facilities and assists in identification of causes and preventive/corrective actions.
  • Evaluates the interrelationship of system safety requirements and other aspects of concept design and development requirements to ensure the most cost effective program.
