Job summary

United Launch Alliance is seeking a Systems Safety professional in Colorado to review launch vehicle and space vehicle safety requirements, edit safety documents, and support customers across ULA, Air Force, NASA, and commercial partners. This role emphasizes independent assessment, audits, and accident investigation collaboration.

You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure safety is integrated throughout concept design and development, with travel up to 25% as needed.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering discipline from an accredited college or university.
  • 4+ years of related work experience (Master's degree substitutes for 2 years).
  • Ability to lead projects to successful completion.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to plan and maintain schedule adherence for assigned work scope.
  • Demonstrated teamwork/interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated group presentation skills.
  • Limited domestic travel up to 25% depending on program needs.
  • Must be able to obtain a DoD Security Clearance if required.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews launch vehicle and space vehicle system specifications and designs to establish safety requirements and safety assessments.
  • Performs independent assessments and provides recommendations to system design and operational procedures to control or eliminate hazards.
  • Prepares safety documents to support customers including ULA, Air Force, Range Safety, FAA, NASA, NRO, and Commercial customers.
  • Performs audits of operational areas and reports effectiveness of the safety program.
  • Participates in accident investigations and assists in identifying causes and corrective actions.
  • Evaluates the interrelationship of safety requirements with concept design to ensure cost-effective programs.
