Job summary

Castelion is seeking a Senior System Safety Engineer to lead a risk-informed System Safety Program for weapon systems. You will identify hazards early, document risks, and embed safety into design, development, test, and operations with MIL-STD-882E alignment.

You will collaborate with propulsion, avionics, GNC, software, test, manufacturing, and mission teams, interfacing with government customers and safety boards throughout the program lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Master in science, engineering, or software with required experience
• Experience applying MIL-STD-882E in a tailored, risk-informed manner
• Ability to obtain and maintain Top-Secret clearance
• Experience performing system and software safety analyses for weapon systems or aerospace platforms
• Experience supporting design, development, integration, test, and verification of military systems

Responsibilities

• Define, tailor, and implement System Safety Program aligned with MIL-STD-882E for rapid development
• Lead hazard analyses (FHA, PHA, SHA/SSHA, SRHA, FTA, Software Safety)
• Provide embedded safety support to design trades, test planning, and procedures
• Represent safety at reviews, meetings, and government safety boards
• Develop safety cases and SARs for internal leadership and stakeholders
