Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking a System Safety Engineer to join the Safety, Quality and Mission Assurance organization. You will lead safety analyses on space vehicles and in-space systems, collaborating with systems engineering to verify compliance with safety and reliability requirements.

Based in WA and willing to travel up to 20%, you will identify design improvements, mitigate hazards, and mentor engineers across programs to ensure mission success and human spaceflight safety.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related field.
• 7+ years of System Safety or Systems Engineering experience performing requirements, traceability, decomposition, integration, verification, and validation.
• Experience performing safety analyses on safety critical systems including FTA, PHA, FHA, FMECA, reliability analysis and mitigations.
• Ability to lead and coordinate safety analysis products across diverse engineers and stakeholders.
• Strong safety and mission assurance fundamentals and clear communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform and lead engineering activities including FTA, PHA, FHA, FMECA, reliability analysis and mitigation plans.
• Develop plans and coordinate completion of system safety analyses with review and guidance.
• Ensure traceability between system and subsystem functions, requirements, and safety artifacts.
• Support verification and validation of safety and reliability requirements.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers across programs.
• Collaborate across systems to develop best practices and cross-project processes.
