Job summary

First Interstate Bank is seeking a Systems Engineer III to design, install, administer, and optimize the storage, servers, and virtualization stack across Windows, Linux/Unix, Citrix, and cloud components. The role requires mentoring junior staff and potentially leading a small team.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with Windows Server, Linux, networking, and virtualization, and will support high-availability applications while contributing to security and disaster recovery planning.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Microsoft-based solutions including Active Directory, Group Policy, Windows File and Print Services, DNS, and SCCM.
• Deep knowledge of Windows Server operating systems (2016, 2019 and newer).
• Knowledge of Linux-based OS including Red Hat Enterprise Linux and Ubuntu.
• Expertise in client OS including Windows 10 and newer versions.
• Strong networking fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
• Understanding of load balancing (NetScaler, BIG-IP).
• Experience with virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V) and backup/replication.
• Familiarity with AWS, Azure, Google Cloud.

Responsibilities

• Ensure availability of client and server applications.
• Configure new implementations and manage server environments.
• Handle access issues and maintain data center security.
• Monitor resources, plan capacity, and troubleshoot storage usage.
• Test disaster recovery and business continuity strategies.
• Collaborate with stakeholders and assist audits.
• Coach junior engineers and work with limited supervision.
• Address complex problems and improve automation.
