ZB Designs is on a mission to redefine toy manufacturing through advanced 3D printing. With over 3,000 printers running and 10,000 in sight, we are scaling to become one of the largest toy companies on the planet. We move fast, prototype faster, and thrive on solving hard problems with creativity and precision.

The Role

We are hiring a Senior Systems and Product Innovation Engineer to partner directly with the CEO in shaping the future of our print operations and product development. You will lead high‑impact initiatives that increase production efficiency, improve product quality, and expand our technical capabilities. This is a leadership‑track role for someone who can think strategically, execute decisively, and innovate relentlessly.

What You’ll Do
Systems and Operations (50–60%)
  • Design and optimize print farm layouts for scalability and throughput
  • Develop advanced print parameters and process controls across multiple product lines
  • Evaluate, qualify, and implement new printer models and materials
  • Lead automation and network integration projects for large‑scale printer control
  • Build systems, dashboards, and data frameworks to guide operational decisions
  • Engineer new toy designs optimized for mass 3D printing
  • Redesign existing products for better printability, durability, and cost efficiency
  • Oversee material and structural testing for quality assurance
  • Develop internal tools and jigs that enhance production capabilities
Strategic Leadership
  • Serve as the CEO’s technical right‑hand for operational strategy and innovation
  • Identify system‑level improvements and lead implementation efforts
  • Mentor junior engineers or technicians as the team grows
  • Represent engineering in key business and product discussions
What You Bring
Technical Skills
  • Expert proficiency in Fusion 360 (or similar CAD software)
  • Deep understanding of 3D printing technologies, materials, and process tuning
  • Strong background in systems thinking, process design, or manufacturing optimization
  • Skilled in data analysis, process modeling, and structured decision‑making
Experience
  • 4–7 years of experience in engineering, manufacturing, or product development
  • Demonstrated success leading complex technical projects
  • Proven ability to balance strategy with hands‑on problem solving
  • Bonus: experience scaling production systems or leading teams in high‑growth environments
Core Competencies
  • Systems thinker who connects technical details to business impact
  • Proactive communicator and decision‑maker
  • Calm under pressure, even when 50 printers decide to rebel at once
  • Thrives in ambiguity and loves building order from chaos
Why This Role Matters

This is not a maintenance job. It is a creation job. You will be helping shape the systems, tools, and products that define the future of the company. As we expand to 10,000 printers, your fingerprints will be all over how that scale happens.

  • Salary: $80,000–$100,000 based on experience
  • Standard schedule: 40+ hours per week with flexibility for critical projects
  • Physical requirements: Ability to navigate production areas and conduct hands‑on testing
