Job summary

Carrier Global Corporation, a leader in intelligent climate and energy solutions, seeks a Systems Engineering professional to convert product requirements into embedded control system solutions for HVAC programs in North Carolina.

You will work with software developers, QA, and lab teams to deliver reliable control systems, perform testing, and document results. A 3+ year background in embedded software/control and an advanced engineering degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience with embedded software and/or embedded control design.
• 3+ years of experience with specification, design, development, and manufacture of products in HVAC, automotive, aerospace, or white product.
• Advanced degree preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accountable for the controls sub-system delivery of new product programs via requirements elicitation and verification planning.
• Work closely with software developers to ensure high-quality embedded control systems are delivered on time and as the customer’s request.
• Provide expertise in control system design and analysis for high-efficiency HVAC products.
• Develop and execute testing and qualification for software modules and control systems.
• Review test results and modify equipment to meet specifications.
• Provide reliability analysis of components and systems.
• Develop and coordinate engineering documents and release.
• Provide daily directions to developers, QA engineers, & lab technicians.
• Prepare presentations for Qualification Review Boards demonstrating Quality System deployment tools.
• Collaborate with Marketing, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.
• Document process improvements as part of standard engineering work.
• Identify reliable and cost-effective purchased components for new product development projects.

About this role

The Systems Engineering professional works independently, converts product requirements into control system solutions, leads trade studies, and implements common work practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Accountable for the complete delivery of the controls sub-system of new product development programs, primarily through requirements elicitation and verification planning.
• Work closely with software developers to ensure high quality embedded control systems are delivered on time and as the customer’s request.
• Provide expertise in control system design and analysis in the development of next generation high efficiency and environmentally friendly commercial HVAC products
• Develop and execute testing and qualification for software modules and control systems.
• Review test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modify or adjust equipment to meet specifications.
• Provide reliability analysis of components and systems.
• Develop and coordinate engineering documents and release.
• Provide daily directions to developers, QA engineers, & lab technicians.
• Prepare presentations for Qualification Review Boards including demonstrating the use of Quality System deployment tools.
• Collaborate with team members from Marketing, Design Engineering, and Manufacturing Engineering.
• Document process improvements as part of standard engineering work.
• Identification of reliable and cost-effective purchased components required for new product development projects.

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

• 3+ years of experience working with embedded software and/or embedded control system design.
• 3+ years of experience working with specification, design, development, and manufacture of products in HVAC, automotive, aerospace, or white product.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Advanced Degree in Systems, Electrical or Mechanical engineering.
• Hands-on experience working in an Engineering design environment.
• Demonstrated system design thinking skills and creative new product design skills.
• Project management and interpersonal skills and the ability to work within an engineering design team
• Working knowledge of refrigeration design, heat transfer, fan systems, structural analysis & electronic control systems.
• Demonstrated experience in continual process improvement.
• Experience with model-based design techniques.
• Experience integrating and verifying & validating performance of complex systems
• Knowledge of model development software tools like Simulink is a strong differentiator.
• Proficiency in Matlab / Simulink, and C/C++.
• Ability to professionally engage with cross-functional and cross-regional teams to understand and translate product requirements into control system requirements
• Ability to communicate complex technical concepts across technical and non-technical organizations
• Ambitious self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced design environment.
• Ability for developing continuous improvement projects to influence and drive change
• Highly organized with strong attention to detail, while managing multiple priorities.

Pay Range

The annual salary for this position is between $79,000.00 - $158,000.00 annually. Factors which may affect pay within this range include, but are not limited to, skills, education, experience, and other unique qualifications of the successful candidate. The pay range will not be below the minimum wage applicable to the jurisdiction in which the applicant is to be employed.

Other Compensation

This position may be entitled to short-term cash incentives, subject to plan requirements.
