Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation, a trusted partner to the nation’s space programs, seeks a Senior Member of Technical Staff in System Architecture to drive architecture studies and MBSE across space programs. Based in Chantilly, VA or El Segundo, CA, you’ll lead design teams and collaborate with government and industry partners.

Required are a PhD in a relevant field (or near completion), 0–1 year of experience, internship background, and strong communication.

Qualifications

PhD in mechanical engineering, systems engineering, science, or related technical field (pursuing or conferred within last 12 months).
0-1 year of industry experience.
Prior internship with The Aerospace Corporation.
Experience in system or enterprise architecting, systems engineering, concept design, and MBSE.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Ability to learn new skills and engage with mentors and subject matter experts.
Available to travel domestically and internationally ~5-10%.
Ability to obtain TS/SCI security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

Work as a key contributor and leader in the Concept Design Center System Architecture Team.
Perform mission concept design, analysis of alternatives, and architecture-level trade studies.
Apply disciplined system architecting methods and MBSE to architectures.
Develop MBSE and digital engineering capabilities and integrate them.
Evaluate architectural concepts for cost, schedule, performance, risk, and resilience.
Collaborate with Aerospace personnel to marshal expertise across disciplines.
Engage with program offices, customers, and contractors to elicit needs and communicate results.
