Job summary

Danfoss Power Solutions in Ames, IA seeks a Senior System Application Engineer to be the primary technical representative to customers, providing engineering solutions and supporting project execution across mobile hydraulic, power electronics, and electric machine systems.

You will work with the technical sales team, evaluate specifications, and develop proposals, while designing control architectures and evaluating product applications for performance and safety.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Agricultural Engineering required or equivalent.
• 5+ years of relevant experience or internship equivalent.
• Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Familiarity with Matlab/Simulink and/or other simulation software.
• Machine testing experience and ability to troubleshoot.
• Technical writing skills preferred.
• Indirect leadership to coordinate multiple OEM customer projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop strong mobile machine expertise through research, testing and analysis of agricultural, construction, material handling, turf and specialty machines.
• Collaborate with the technical sales team to evaluate customer specifications and contribute to technical proposals.
• Assist in selecting and specifying DPS products ensuring conformance to requirements.
• Design system control architecture, logic, and parameters to meet safety and performance criteria.
• Research and test alternate machine designs for feasibility and cost.
• Investigate problems and recommend remedial actions or design changes.
