Job summary

Leidos in Alexandria, VA seeks a Senior System Administrator Team Lead to guide a mixed team of engineers and admins, securing DoD enclaves and delivering reliable on-premises and hybrid cloud services. You will lead design discussions, oversee deployment, and ensure performance and security of core infrastructure.

Ideal candidates have 10+ years in Linux system administration, 6+ years leading DoD IT teams, and DoD 8570 IAT I compliance, with proven leadership in fast-paced environments.

Qualifications

• US Citizenship with an active Secret clearance or higher.
• Bachelor’s degree with 12+ years of experience or Master’s with 10+ years; advanced experience acceptable in lieu of degree.
• 10+ years of Linux system administration, networking gear, and security monitoring.
• 6+ years of DoD mission-critical IT systems experience and team leadership.
• 3+ years leading a team of 5+ engineers/ administrators.
• Experience deploying and maintaining physical servers and secure DoD networks.
• DoD 8570 IAT level I compliant.

Responsibilities

• Manage tasks and sub-task assignments to team members.
• Lead bi-weekly team meetings and track progress.
• Provide technical reviews of team member’s work.
• Offer technical leadership for migrating on-premise to hybrid cloud.
• Contribute to design discussions on capabilities, performance, and security.
• Support troubleshooting from OS to application level.
• Maintain Linux servers and related services.
• Manage networking equipment including switches, routers and firewalls.
• Configure core enclave services: DHCP, DNS, email, Apache, Tomcat, MariaDB.
• Monitor security tools for DoD networks.
