Job summary

Kentucky Blood Center Inc is seeking a Senior System Administrator III (On-Site) to lead server and virtual environments, act as SME, and mentor team members in Lexington, KY. The role includes IT project leadership, infrastructure improvements, and ensuring system reliability across the organization.

The position requires strong experience in system administration, networking, scripting, and security, with the ability to manage workloads and support after-hours and weekend IT coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; appropriate combination of education and IT work experience with high school diploma (or equivalent) required.
• 3 to 5 years of progressive, relevant experience administering systems, applications, and servers.
• Advanced proficiency with MS Office, Adobe, web applications, and custom systems (as user and administrator).
• Applicable knowledge of one or more scripting languages.
• Solid understanding of LAN/WAN networks and system security techniques.
• Strong customer service and communication skills with the ability to interact effectively at all levels of the organization.
• Must operate as a subject matter expert, with demonstrated skills in training, delegating tasks, and mentoring other team members.
• Ability to organize and manage workload, and to work a flexible schedule, to include on-call rotation for IT coverage after hours and on weekends.

Responsibilities

• Acts as SME in system administration, mentoring and leading server/system initiatives.
• Analyzing workflow, access, information, and security requirements.
• Designing and maintaining systems administration, including interface configuration.
• Evaluates system performance, availability, and throughput.
• Plans and tests equipment installation, configuration, and testing.
• Manages security, user access, and email applications.
• Drives deployment of new applications and systems; ensures smooth implementation.
• Monitors Active Directory, DNS, DHCP, file security, and accessibility.
• Troubleshoots issues with physical and virtual systems; guides changes needed.
• Provides user support and help desk functions as needed.
• Develops reports and keeps leadership apprised of status and challenges.
• Maintains SOPs and participates in budget discussions for enhancements.
