Job summary

Akira Technologies is seeking a Senior System Administrator to support the U.S. Army Materiel Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground, Maryland. The role focuses on day-to-day admin, maintenance, troubleshooting, and security of the JWICS environment in a DoD setting.

The ideal candidate will have strong Windows/Linux administration, network expertise, and DoD compliance experience, plus an active TS/SCI clearance and onsite work at Aberdeen Proving Ground, MD.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5+ years of IT experience supporting enterprise-level systems
• Hands-on Windows and/or Linux administration in secure/DoD environments
• Experience managing enterprise network infrastructure
• Certifications meeting DoD 8570/8140 requirements
• Experience applying STIGs and DoD security controls
• Active TS/SCI clearance and ability to work onsite
• Ability to troubleshoot complex issues and support users

Responsibilities

• Perform daily Windows and/or Linux system administration including patching and config
• Implement DoD security requirements and STIGs across systems
• Administer and troubleshoot network devices (switches, routers, firewalls)
• Provide Tier 1/2 user support and issue resolution
• Support VTC setup, configuration and user assistance
• Monitor logs, investigate alerts, and assist with incident response
• Maintain JWICS environment security and compliance
• Conduct backups and support disaster recovery planning
• Diagnose and resolve hardware/software/network issues, escalate as needed
• Maintain system documentation and operational runbooks
• Collaborate with security, network, and customer support teams
