Job summary

The City of Ann Arbor is seeking a Swim Instructor III to teach swimming and water safety to both children and adults. You will supervise class activities for small groups or private lessons and may lead programs at multiple pools.

You will help organize registrations, assess student skills, train junior staff, and participate in program evaluation to ensure high standards across facilities.

Qualifications

• Two years of swim instruction experience and one year in program administration.
• Must obtain CPR/AED and First Aid certification within 30 days of employment.
• Must possess American Red Cross Lifeguard certification by start of employment.
• Current Water Safety Instructor certification.
• Covid-19 vaccination required or approved exemption.

Responsibilities

• Instruct swimming and water safety skills for children and adults per City of Ann Arbor standards.
• Supervise structured class activities for small groups or private lessons.
• Lead instructor for a pool and support instructional swim programs across multiple pools.
• Assist with program organization, registration, skill assessment and staff training.
• Participate in program evaluation and supervision of other instructors.
