Job summary

SafeSplash West Warwick is seeking a Senior Instructor to oversee training and ongoing education for swim instructors. You will report to the General Manager and play a key role in maintaining a safe, engaging program for students, parents, and staff.

The role requires leading training, certifying staff, and mentoring instructors while ensuring high-quality lessons and adherence to safety and brand standards. Weekdays, weeknights, and weekends on-site.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of teaching swim lessons at SafeSplash Swim School (preferred).
• Supervisor or team leadership experience in aquatics, education, or related field.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial and ongoing training for staff to maintain standards.
• Ensure certifications are current and compliant for all staff.
• Track onboarding, renewals, and ongoing development milestones.
• Supervise instructors and lifeguards to ensure safety and quality.
• Coach and mentor instructors, in and out of the water.
• Deliver feedback and collaborate with management on training needs.
• Conduct quarterly in-services and support curriculum delivery.

Salary Range: $19.00 To $21.00 Hourly

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Senior Instructor plays a key role in maintaining a safe, engaging, and exceptional product for students, parents, and staff. Responsibilities:

• Provide initial training for new staff and ongoing training for all team members to enhance their skills and stay current with standards.
• Ensure all required certifications are obtained, current, and compliant for all required staff
• Track and manage the employee training lifecycle, including onboarding completion, required certifications, in-services, renewals, and ongoing development milestones
• Supervise instructors and lifeguards to ensure high-quality lessons and adherence to safety and brand standards.
• Coach and mentor instructors both in and out of the water.
• Assist instructors in the water with challenges they are facing with the curriculum.
• Conduct quarterly in-services to ensure continued education.
• Provide constructive feedbackto staff through evaluations or immediate feedback.
• Collaborate with the management team to determine training needs.

Safety

• Ensure the safety of our customers and report any unsafe activities, equipment or instruction to management.
• Provide feedback to instructors immediately if they are outside of curriculum safety requirements (i.e. safety distances, holds, turning backs, etc.)

Customer

• Deliver a world-class experience by addressing customer inquiries, ensuring we are delivering an exceptional product, and the swimmers are progressing.
• Assist instructors on how to communicate with parents on their child’s progress.

Job Type

• Weekdays, Weeknights and Weekends required
• 20+hours a week (seasonality can impact this)
• Work Location: On-site

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months of teaching swim lessons at SafeSplash Swim School(preferred)
• Supervisor or team leadership experience in aquatics, education, or related field(preferred)
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while being agile and taking initiative
• Comfortable working around water and interacting with children and parents.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be on your feet for long periods
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required within 30 days of hire (training available)
• Lifeguard certification; training and instructing required within 90 days (training available)
• Experience in swimming instruction is required
