Job summary

SafeSplash Swim School in Atlanta, GA is seeking a Senior Instructor to oversee training and ongoing education for our swim instructors. You will report to the General Manager and help maintain a safe, engaging program for students, parents, and staff.

The role requires leading training, certifying staff, and coaching instructors while ensuring quality and safety across lessons. On-site, weekdays, weeknights, and weekends are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 months of teaching swim lessons.
• Supervisor or team leadership experience in aquatics or related field preferred.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while taking initiative.
• Comfortable around water and interacting with children and parents.

Responsibilities

• Provide initial training for new staff and ongoing training for all team members.
• Ensure certifications are obtained, current, and compliant for staff.
• Track and manage the employee training lifecycle (onboarding, renewals, milestones).
• Supervise instructors and lifeguards to ensure safety and quality.
• Coach and mentor instructors in and out of the water.
• Assist instructors in the water with curriculum challenges.
• Conduct quarterly in-services for continued education.
• Provide constructive feedback through evaluations or real-time input.
• Collaborate with management to determine training needs.

Reporting directly to the General Manager, the Senior Instructor plays a key role in maintaining a safe, engaging, and exceptional product for students, parents, and staff. Responsibilities

• Provide initial training for new staff and ongoing training for all team members to enhance their skills and stay current with standards.
• Ensure all required certifications are obtained, current, and compliant for all required staff
• Track and manage the employee training lifecycle, including onboarding completion, required certifications, in-services, renewals, and ongoing development milestones
• Supervise instructors and lifeguards to ensure high-quality lessons and adherence to safety and brand standards.
• Coach and mentor instructors both in and out of the water.
• Assist instructors in the water with challenges they are facing with the curriculum.
• Conduct quarterly in-services to ensure continued education.
• Provide constructive feedbackto staff through evaluations or immediate feedback.
• Collaborate with the management team to determine training needs.

Safety

• Ensure the safety of our customers and report any unsafe activities, equipment or instruction to management.
• Provide feedback to instructors immediately if they are outside of curriculum safety requirements (i.e. safety distances, holds, turning backs, etc.)

Customer

• Deliver a world-class experience by addressing customer inquiries, ensuring we are delivering an exceptional product, and the swimmers are progressing.
• Assist instructors on how to communicate with parents on their child’s progress.

Job Type

• Weekdays, Weeknights and Weekends required
• 20+hours a week (seasonality can impact this)
• Work Location: On-site

Requirements

• Minimum of 6 months of teaching swim lessons at SafeSplash Swim School(preferred)
• Supervisor or team leadership experience in aquatics, education, or related field(preferred)
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment while being agile and taking initiative
• Comfortable working around water and interacting with children and parents.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs. and be on your feet for long periods
• CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are required within 30 days of hire (training available)
• Lifeguard certification; training and instructing required within 90 days (training available)
• Experience in swimming instruction is required
