Job summary

University of California, San Francisco is seeking a Senior Surgical Technologist to join the operating room teams across UCSF Medical Center locations, including Benioff Children's Hospital Oakland and Walnut Creek. The role supports preparation, processing, and maintenance of supplies and equipment and passes instruments to the surgeon to maintain a sterile field.

This position requires two years of recent acute care scrub experience, proficiency in multiple service lines, CPR certification,

Qualifications

• Two years of recent scrubbing in an acute care operating room.
• Scrubbing in at least three service lines within the last two years: General Surgery, Ophthalmology, Neurology, Orthopedics/Spine, Otolaryngology/Airway, Plastics, or Cardiac.
• Proficiency in at least two surgical specialties.
• Active AHA CPR certification for healthcare providers.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; or surgical technologist program graduate.
• Flexibility to orient at all UCSF Health locations.
• Weekend and on-call requirements.
• Certification as a Surgical Technologist is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Select and set up instruments and equipment for surgical procedures.
• Pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon during operations, maintaining a sterile field.
• Ensure the surgical environment remains sterile throughout the procedure.
• Orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations as required, demonstrating flexibility.
• Maintain knowledge and adhere to behavioral standards within the scope of practice.
• Promote service excellence by following UCSF Medical Center's PRIDE standards for communication and behavior.
• Keep working areas clean and orderly, adhering to safety and infection control policies.
• Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and competency in all interactions with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Assume accountability for improving quality metrics and meeting departmental targets.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
