Job summary

University of California - San Francisco is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist in preparation, processing, care and maintenance of instruments and equipment as part of the surgical team. You will scrub in orthopedic procedures, anticipate surgeon needs and support aseptic technique throughout operations.

The role requires ambulatory surgery center experience, CPR C certification, and the ability to orient to multiple UCSF Medical Center locations.

Qualifications

• Experience working in an ambulatory surgery center.
• Active CPR C certification.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Flexibility to orient and work at all UCSF Medical Center locations.

Responsibilities

• Reports for work on time.
• Uses the time reporting system correctly to verify time worked.
• Establishes priorities for actions.
• Organizes activities in logical sequence.
• Coordinates use of supplies and equipment for intra-operative care.
• Assists in coordination of patient care needs with teammembers and personnel from other disciplines.
• Controls environment.
• Prepares for potential emergencies.
• Maintains correct anatomical position and proper exposure.
• Procures and utilizes appropriate supports and restraints.
• Coordinates with other team members to identify hazards and preventive actions.
• Achieves and maintains current CPR certification.
• Follows sterilization and aseptic techniques.
• Participates in time out checks for equipment and implants.
• Follows counts and safety policies for sterile items.
