Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California is seeking a Senior Surgical Technician to support the anesthesia and surgical team across complex procedures. You will prepare and maintain instruments, assist surgeons, and ensure sterility and readiness of the operating room.

You will scrub in as primary or secondary staff, position patients, and help with gowning and glove usage while maintaining patient safety and efficient OR turnover.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of current acute Operating Room experience.
• High School Diploma/GED.
• Basic Life Support certification.
• Surgical Technicians certified by the Association of Operating Room Technicians shall qualify as Senior Surgical Technicians upon certification.

Responsibilities

• Direct, review, assign and report on the work of one or more Surgical Technicians.
• Coordinate configuration of equipment and arrange instruments for procedures; ensure sterility and functionality.
• Assist with patient positioning, scrubbing, gowning and glove use.
• Hand instruments to the surgeon, hold retractors, and assist during operations as directed.
• Count sponges, needles and instruments per hospital policy; apply dressings after surgery.
• Participate in meeting patient safety goals and maintain operating room readiness.
