Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California’s Manteca Medical Center is seeking a Surgical Technician to assist the surgical team before, during, and after operations. You will maintain instruments, ensure sterility, and support the team throughout procedures.

Responsibilities include coordinating equipment, assisting with patient positioning, scrubbing, gowning, PPE, and hand-off of instruments to surgeons. Commitment to patient safety and teamwork is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum two years of current acute Operating Room experience.
• Surgical Technicians certified by the Association of Operating Room Technicians preferred.
• Strong experience with minimally invasive, general, ENT, eyes, plastics, orthopedics, vascular, open heart-thoracic, spine, urology, GYN, podiatry, maxillofacial, and neuro surgery specialties.
• Willing to participate in training of RNs and other disciplines in the scrub role.
• Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.

Responsibilities

• Direct, check, review, and report on the work of one or more Surgical Technicians; coordinate equipment setup and sterility checks.
• Arrange operating room equipment and instrument trays for procedures; ensure proper sterility and functionality.
• Assist with patient positioning, scrubbing, gowning, and PPE; hand instruments to surgeon and assist during procedures.
• Maintain room turnover, clean OR, wash and sterilize equipment; contribute to patient safety goals.
• Suggest guidelines for equipment use and purchasing; assemble case carts and prepare for procedures.
