Job summary

Trinity Health MI is seeking a skilled Surgical Coder to review providers’ operative notes, assign CPT and ICD codes, and maintain high accuracy in coding within the EPIC EMR system. You will collaborate with physicians, staff, and compliance to ensure accurate billing and timely revenue cycles.

Minimum two years of coding experience, CPT/ICD knowledge, and certification options (CPC/CMC/CCS) are preferred. The role supports hybrid work from Michigan facilities and remote options as needed.

Qualifications

• 2 years of professional surgical coding experience required
• Knowledge of CPT and ICD-9/ICD-10 coding
• Familiarity with billing and managed care processes
• Proficient in standard office software and EMR systems
• Excellent written and verbal communication
• Ability to work both remotely or in-office and handle confidential information

Responsibilities

• Review providers’ surgical notes and assign CPT/diagnosis codes
• Run daily reconciliation reports to ensure charges are captured
• Maintain 90% accuracy of surgical coding
• Communicate coding updates to providers and staff
• Serve as SME resource for Coding Specialists I
• Enter surgical charges into the EMR system (EPIC)
• Coordinate with compliance and external organizations as needed
• Attend meetings with physicians and clinical staff
• Perform other duties as assigned
