Job summary

Integrative Emergency Services, LLC seeks a Certified Medical Coding Specialist focusing on surgical auditing. You will assign CPT/ICD-10-CM/HCPCS codes, review records for medical necessity, and ensure compliance with CMS and payer guidelines.

The role supports coding accuracy, denial prevention, and continuous improvement across service lines. Hybrid or remote work is available; remote workers must reside in an IES operating state.

Qualifications

• High-level knowledge of general surgery-related terminology and anatomy.
• Strong CPT/HCPCS/ICD-10-CM coding knowledge and accuracy.
• Ability to evaluate documentation for medical necessity and compliance.
• Familiarity with NCCI edits and bundling guidance.

Responsibilities

• Accurately assign CPT, ICD-10-CM, and HCPCS Level II codes for professional surgical services based on medical records.
• Evaluate records for completeness, accuracy, and medical necessity.
• Ensure coding compliance with CMS and payer guidelines.
• Identify undercoding/overcoding and modifier issues and address denials.
• Apply modifiers and ensure correct provider, place of service, and payer selection.
• Conduct claim reviews to support clean submissions and reduce denials.
• Audit coding accuracy via ad hoc reports and focused reviews.
• Analyze denials and recommend corrective actions.
• Stay current on payer policies and annual coding updates.
• Collaborate with providers to clarify documentation and improve coding specificity.
