Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a Senior Support Engineer in Milwaukee to lead advanced infrastructure support across servers, AD, networking, and cloud services. You will own incident resolution, automation, and documentation while collaborating across locations.

The role requires hands‑on experience with Windows Server, VMware, M365/Azure, and strong networking knowledge. On‑site work in Milwaukee with a collaborative IT team.

• Minimum 5 years in IT infrastructure, systems admin, or related role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Windows Server 2016/2019/2022 or newer.
• Experience with Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Azure, Entra ID, Intune.
• VMware vCenter/ESXi virtualization experience.
• Solid networking fundamentals: LAN/WAN, VPNs, VLANs, routing, firewall admin.

Responsibilities for the Senior Support Engineer role include:

• Provide advanced technical support and escalation management for complex infrastructure, server, network, and end-user technology issues.
• Troubleshoot and resolve issues involving Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, file and print services, and Remote Desktop Services.
• Administer and support Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Azure, Entra ID, and Intune environments.
• Manage and support VMware vCenter and ESXi virtualization infrastructure.
• Maintain and troubleshoot LAN/WAN connectivity, VPNs, VLANs, routing, and firewalls across multiple facilities.
• Support storage systems, backups, disaster recovery processes, and business continuity initiatives.
• Perform root‑cause analysis, vulnerability remediation, system patching, and infrastructure maintenance to ensure secure and reliable operations.
• Develop and maintain PowerShell scripts to automate routine tasks and improve operational efficiency.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
• Collaborate with cross‑functional teams on IT projects, infrastructure upgrades, and technology improvements.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to IT team members while promoting best practices and continuous improvement.
• Participate in an on‑call rotation, providing support for critical issues outside normal business hours.

Qualifications for the Senior Support Engineer role include:

• A minimum of 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure, systems administration, network engineering, or a related technical support role.
• Strong hands‑on experience with Windows Server 2016, 2019, 2022, or newer, including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, and core server services.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365, Exchange Online, Azure, Entra ID, and Intune.
• Working knowledge of VMware vCenter and ESXi virtualization technologies.
• Strong networking fundamentals, including LAN/WAN, VPNs, VLANs, routing, and firewall administration; Fortinet experience is highly desirable.
• Experience with backup and recovery solutions, storage systems, security remediation, and disaster recovery planning.
• Familiarity with PowerShell scripting and IT process automation.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage competing priorities, resolve escalated incidents, and work effectively with technical and nontechnical stakeholders.
• A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred; equivalent professional experience will also be considered.
• Relevant certifications are a plus, including Microsoft Azure, Microsoft identity, VMware, CompTIA Security+, Cisco CCNA, Fortinet, or ITIL.
