Job summary

Rivian Automotive in Irvine, CA seeks a Senior Supplier Development, Industrialization & Quality Engineer to ensure supplier quality and drive process improvements across battery components. You will oversee APQP/PPAP, manage progress with suppliers, and influence sourcing decisions with data-driven insights.

You will work onsite with 50–75% travel, collaborating with Supply Chain, Quality, and Engineering teams to maintain low risk and timely delivery of milestones.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical field with at least 3 years of supplier development experience.
• Experience managing commodities and understanding economic and technology landscapes.
• Lead supplier industrialization and readiness for battery components and systems.
• Monitor warranty and field performance, partner with other teams to analyze field returns and containment.
• Technical knowledge in battery structure and related manufacturing processes.

Responsibilities

• Own the quality performance for assigned commodities, maintaining low-to-no risk (CL3) status and overseeing CL2 supplier action plans.
• Proactively identify challenges and propose remedies to remove risks before production impact.
• Lead APQP/PPAP processes, define expectations, and monitor timelines with suppliers for on-time quality milestones.
• Serve as technical owner for industrialization and manage final quality sign-off.
• Operate with autonomy to drive improvements within an assigned scope and use data-driven logic to remove risk.
