Job summary

Valmont Industries, Inc. in Nebraska is seeking a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer to lead supplier quality initiatives for high-risk commodities and to drive quality system improvements across the product lifecycle.

The role requires mentoring engineers, partnering with Engineering, Supply Chain and Operations, and leading audits, SCAR/CAPA, and APQP/PPAP activities to ensure supplier capability and reduced cost of poor quality.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience or an Associate’s degree with 7+ years of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience in supplier quality engineering with ownership of complex supplier issues.
• Strong knowledge of quality management systems and supplier quality methodologies.
• Expert-level problem-solving (8D, A3, 5 Whys, Fishbone) and statistical analysis.
• Experience with ISO 9001, AISC, customer-specific requirements.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and specifications.
• Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, and metrology.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence without authority.
• Strong written and verbal communication, including executive-level presentations.
• Proficiency with MS Office and ERP systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead supplier quality initiatives for high-risk commodities across the product lifecycle.
• Own and improve supplier-related elements of the QMS (standards, procedures, governance).
• Lead complex supplier nonconformance investigations and drive robust CAPA.
• Manage supplier audits (quality system, process, product) for qualification and ongoing performance.
• Lead supplier selection, onboarding, and development activities with risk-based evaluations.
• Lead APQP and PPAP for new products and major changes; ensure timely deliverables.
• Review PFMEAs, control plans, SPC strategies, and metrology data for approvals.
• Collaborate with Engineering to influence manufacturability and supplier capability.
• Drive supplier risk assessment and mitigation for new programs and capacity constraints.
• Develop, analyze, and present supplier performance metrics and scorecards.
