Job summary

Northwood Space seeks a Senior Supplier Development Engineer to design and implement the company’s first supplier quality assurance system and related workflows. You will lead qualification of new suppliers for RF, PCBA, mechanical, and electromechanical components, and establish performance reviews and corrective actions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in engineering.
• 5+ years in Supplier Quality/Development in manufacturing.
• Experience with ISO 9001, AS9100, PPAP.
• Experience qualifying suppliers and managing performance.
• Experience building/Scaling quality systems in low-to-medium volume manufacturing.
• Willing to travel up to 25% domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement the company’s first supplier quality assurance system, documentation, and workflows.
• Lead supplier qualification, audits, and corrective action processes.
• Collaborate with product design and manufacturing on DFM, NPI, and pilot builds.
• Define supplier KPIs and establish reporting mechanisms.
• Drive root-cause analysis and CAPA for supplier quality issues.
• Support development of incoming inspection plans and testing protocols.
• Act as a hands-on liaison between internal engineering and external manufacturers.
• Own capacity expansion readiness and production ramp-up at suppliers.
• Develop supplier technical requirements and quality flow-downs.
• Provide feedback on manufacturing methods to reduce costs and improve yields.
• Lead cost engineering to minimize total cost of ownership.
