Job summary

National Grid is seeking a Supplier Engagement Manager to strengthen and maximise strategic supplier relationships, reporting to the Head of Supplier Engagement & Governance. You will drive engagement at the C-Suite level and align with category managers and business unit leads to deliver value and innovation.

Qualifications

• Outstanding stakeholder and supplier management abilities with credibility to influence senior leaders.
• Strong commercial acumen, including knowledge of commercial models and supplier engagement techniques.
• Proven negotiation expertise with contract law understanding and procurement outcomes.
• Sharp analytical ability to interpret KPIs and contract data and identify risks.
• Comfort working in ambiguity and making sound decisions with incomplete information.
• Strong program management skills coordinating complex workstreams with multiple stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Deliver the Supplier Relationship Management strategy with sponsors, category teams, and BU leads.
• Lead engagement with strategic suppliers, coordinating forums and initiatives.
• Support supplier strategies by integrating cross-functional input (Sustainability, Risk) and aligning with priorities.
• Resolve conflicting priorities across categories and escalate when needed.
• Maintain oversight of supplier landscape and access new markets.
• Contribute to supplier segmentation, governance, and performance management.
• Partner with global and regional teams to support commercial strategies, contracts risk assessment, and mitigation.
