Job summary

Calvert County's Department of Parks and Recreation, Therapeutic Recreation Services, is seeking a summer camp supervisor to lead activities for children and youth with disabilities. The role requires directing, planning, and adapting a range of recreational experiences within a defined area and supervising staff and volunteers.

You will ensure a safe, inclusive environment, maintain attendance records and progress notes, and coordinate with the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator.

Qualifications

• One year of college training in recreation, special education, education, social work, psychology, or other humanitarian disciplines.
• Six months of experience working with children with disabilities or related services.
• May require a valid driver’s license.
• Subject to background investigation.

Responsibilities

• Direct and supervise recreational activities for children and youth with disabilities.
• Plan, adapt, and implement activities to maximize participation and independence.
• Supervise staff and volunteers and ensure safety of participants.
• Maintain attendance records and write daily progress notes.
• Communicate with the Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator and staff about activities and personnel issues.
