Job summary

McKim & Creed is seeking an experienced SUE Technician III to lead a Utility Location and SUE field crew. You will manage field operations, collect accurate data, and ensure regulatory compliance while prioritizing safety and client satisfaction.

Responsibilities include training crew on equipment, coordinating with construction teams for safe excavation, and maintaining detailed location records; some overnight travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High School/GED or equivalent preferred.
• Minimum 5 to 10 years of progressive experience as a utility locator or SUE Technician.
• Proficiency with SUE locating equipment, total stations and GPS.
• Strong knowledge of underground utility systems and radar.
• Ability to walk outdoors for long periods in various terrains and conditions.
• Process oriented, analytical, detail oriented, and able to work alone when required.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage a SUE field crew with emphasis on quality, safety, schedules, and client service.
• Train crew members on SUE field equipment and safety protocols.
• Collaborate with construction crews for safe excavation and installation of utilities.
• Maintain accurate records of utility locations and updates.
• Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards or issues.
• Organize field work and direct crew; collect field data and expenses.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures.
• Overnight travel may be required.
• May perform other duties as assigned.
