Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a senior substation designer to join our team in a hybrid work environment, delivering high voltage substation wiring and schematic diagrams in collaboration with engineers. This role requires deep experience in 138kV and above substations and strong drafting skills in CAD tools.

You will mentor new designers, interpret vendor data, and perform client walkdowns to ensure accurate, compliant designs.

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in drafting or equivalent technical experience.
• Advanced knowledge of computer drafting tools (AutoCAD or MicroStation).
• Ability to visualize parts in 3D without the aid of the computer.
• Ability to multi-task from project to project.
• Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
• Knowledge of engineering science and technology and relating equipment to designs.

Responsibilities

• Prepare design deliverables: single line relaying diagrams, AC/DC schematic diagrams, wiring diagrams, and cable schedules based on input from engineers.
• Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior designers.
• Incorporate vendor information into design deliverables.
• Conduct walkdowns at client substation facilities.
