Job summary

Leidos Inc. seeks a Lead Substation Structural Engineer in a remote-friendly role, ideally located in CA. The candidate will lead design reviews for substation structures, supervise junior staff, and manage multiple client projects with attention to seismic standards and code compliance.

The position requires a BS in Civil/Structural Engineering with 8+ years (or MS with 5+ years), a California PE license, and strong client communication. Travel to sites and meetings is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil/Structural Engineering and 8+ years of relevant experience, or MS with 5+ years of relevant experience
• PE License in California, required
• Structural Engineer (SE) License in any state is preferred
• Proven client management and business communication experience, required
• Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD software, required
• Experience with RISA 3D or/and STAAD.Pro or/and SAP2000, SAG10, FAD or/and LPile software, required
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation required
• Strong familiarity with current industry standards, design codes, and design guides (e.g., ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC), required
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills
• Team player with ability to communicate with clients and staff

Responsibilities

• Perform design reviews of civil/structural components for substation projects
• Lead project as senior engineer and mentor junior staff
• Conduct site visits to client facilities and occasional travel for meetings
• Ensure designs comply with industry codes under seismic loading conditions
• Manage multiple client projects within scope, schedule, and budget
