Job summary

Leidos is seeking a Lead Substation Structural Engineer with a B.S. in Civil/Structural Engineering and 8+ years of design and review experience, including seismic considerations.

The role emphasizes leadership, client liaison, and strong knowledge of codes (ASCE, AISC, ACI, IBC) with site visits and occasional travel. The candidate should have CA design experience or be eligible for California licensure, and be capable of leading teams while delivering bid/construction packages for substations

Qualifications

• Bachelors of Science in Civil-Structural Engineering with 8+ years of relevant experience, or Masters with 5+ years.
• PE License in California, required.
• Structural Engineer (SE) License in any state is preferred.
• Proven client management and business communication experience.
• Experience with Microsoft Word/Excel/PowerPoint & MATHCAD software, required.
• Experience with RISA 3D or/and STAAD.Pro or/and SAP2000, SAG10, FAD or/and LPile software, required.
• Familiarity with AutoCAD and MicroStation required.
• Strong familiarity with current industry standards, design codes (ASCE/AISC/ACI/IBC), required.
• Strong analytical and technical writing skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead project design reviews for civil/structural components of substation projects.
• Develop junior staff and oversee design reviews to ensure code compliance.
• Manage multiple clients, schedules, and budgets; travel to client sites as needed.
• Perform site visits to substations and coordinate with clients on design requirements.
